On a list of things I never thought I’d do as a dance instructor is postpone classes temporarily for a pandemic. I have prided myself and my business as a place that is a constant in students’ lives. After reading that schools in the state are to close beginning next week and hearing the fear in my own children’s voices as they question the uncertainty around them, I’ve decided it’s best to follow the recommendation of the people we have elected to guide us and keep us safe. I will add my business to the list of “in an abundance of caution”. My first priority is to keep your child and your families safe. We will immediately postpone in-person classes until the week of March 30th—or until we are given the all clear.
For those of you who have been with me for any time, you realize I don’t sit on my hands and I never just take what’s handed to me. I have been in contact with the company who hosts my website and we are busy creating a way for your student to dance at home. I will be busy this weekend taping warm ups and technique classes and routines for your child to access as often as they need. I know this isn’t the same. It’s not the instruction you paid for or that your dancers are accustomed to. I fully intend to make up the classes we are missing by rescheduling, combining, or going beyond our intended end date in May. Without knowing how long our current situation will impact us in Central Illinois, I don’t want to make specific plans at this point. If and when it becomes necessary, we may look to moving recital later in the spring. MOVING IS THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO—but I want you to know it is a possibility.
As soon as I have the web classes up and running, I will be sending an email and providing each family with a password to access the videos.
Thank you for your support. I apologize, from the bottom of my heart, for our circumstances. Be safe. Be well. Love your people!!!
Miss Lindsay
